About Us

Lorraine trained at Camberwell College of Arts, gaining an MA in Conservation specialising in the conservation of archive material.

She has worked as a Project Conservator at the University of Southampton. She has been Head of Archives Conservation at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, and Head of Paper Conservation at the National Army Museum. After gaining her accreditation from the Institute of Conservation, she set up LF Conservation and Preservation.

LF C&P has been involved in the:

  • conservation of the letters of the First Duke of Wellington
  • conservation of a letter by Admiral Lord Nelson
  • conservation of insurance documents for Churchill, Percy Byshe-Shelly and JFK
  • planning, cleaning and re-instatement of a mould damaged photographic collection
  • project planning and packing of a photographic, film and sound archive
  • planning, surveying and preparing over 100,000 items for digitisation
  • inspecting, researching and writing of funding reports
  • surveying and preparing reports on the preservation needs of cellulose acetate negatives, cellulose nitrate negatives and archive collections
